We currently have some positions opening with our new project, Sunnyside which is located in Ballarat this November.

Sunnyside is a bold new art experience transforming Ballarat with colour and creativity. It is an original production created and produced by The Social Crew. Featuring multi-sensory installations by UK artist Morag Myerscough, workshops, talks and wanderings, it’s a joyful celebration of connection, imagination and artistic expression.

  • As part of our Front of House team, you’ll be the friendly face of the experience, welcoming guests, keeping the artworks safe, and helping everyone have a great experience.

    Your main duties will include:

    • Looking after the exhibition spaces and our visitors with care and attention.

    • Being ready to answer questions about the artist and the artworks (we’ll provide you with plenty of background info so you feel confident).

    • Guiding guests to enjoy the work

    • Keeping an eye on the flow of people through the spaces, including ticketing and other front of house areas.

    Because we’re working in a heritage venue with delicate artworks, it’s really important that all safety and risk management procedures are followed closely.

    And finally, invigilators help set the vibe. You’ll play a big part in creating a welcoming, relaxed, and engaging vibe for everyone who walks through the door.

    FRONT OF HOUSE / EXHIBITION INVIGILATOR

    CASUAL FIXED CONTRACT NOVEMBER 2025  
    REPORTING TO EVENT EXPERIENCE MANAGER
    SALARY $32.31  P/HOUR + SUPERANNUATION  

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 

    Day to Day 

    • Welcome guests and visitors to Chasing Sunbeams experience

    • Looking after the exhibition spaces and our visitors with care and attention.

    • Being ready to answer questions about the artist and the artworks (we’ll provide you with plenty of background info so you feel confident).

    • Direct guests where required, be available to answer any questions.

    • Keeping an eye on the flow of people through the spaces, including ticketing and other front of house areas.

    • Assist visitors in purchasing tickets online as required

    • Upholding all training requirements and code of conduct as provided by the Production team.

    • Ensure exhibition cleanliness standards are upheld.

    Skills and Requirements

    • Event Experience at Front of House / Invigilation background is preferred 

    • Proficiency in the use of Humanitix or other ticketing systems such as EventBrite

    • Willingness and flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and evening hours as required

    • Applicants must be personable, knowledgeable and approachable as a source of information 

    • Strong communication skills and the ability to answer questions effectively or direct to management as required 

    • Energetic, committed, strong sense of initiative, punctual and reliable

    • Excellent time management both in peak times as well as in between session times

    • A solid understanding of the current contemporary and urban art scene is preferred

    MUST BE AVAILABLE

    To work in Ballarat between 6 November to 23 November, Thursday to Sunday, including until 8pm Friday and Saturday evening.

    A compulsory induction will take place prior to the commencement of the event. 

    We would like to ensure that we employ and inspire local creatives, and therefore if you live in Ballarat and surrounds, we would be delighted to hear from you. 

  • You will work alongside the Creative Producer to support the operational delivery of the event, overseeing permit requirements, OH&S compliance, and risk management, all while aligning with the project’s creative vision.

    In this role, you will predominantly supervise site installations, liaising with production and ensuring smooth setup, collaborating with the Production team and other staff to ensure operational needs are fully met.

    You’ll also contribute to reviewing the operational and production resources required for Sunnyside’s successful delivery, while maintaining strong external relationships with suppliers. 

    As we’re working in a heritage venue and township with delicate artworks, it’s really important that all safety and risk management procedures are followed closely.

    And finally, our crew helps set the tone. You’ll play a big part in creating a safe, welcoming, relaxed, and engaging vibe for everyone we work with and those who visit.

    OPERATIONS COORDINATOR [FREELANCE]

    CASUAL CONTRACT OCTOBER to NOVEMBER 2025  

    REPORTING TO CREATIVE DIRECTOR / PRODUCER

    RATE from $500 per day, depending on experience.

    LOCATION Ballarat

    Day to Day 

    • Work with the Production team to deliver all operational requirements across events.

    • Support the Producer with Event Plans, documentation, and operational systems.

    • Coordinate suppliers, oversee installations, and manage distribution of PPE, radios, and equipment.

    • Contribute to briefings, incident logging, reporting frameworks, and risk and emergency planning.

    • Help manage systems for online briefings, inductions, and operational checklists.

    • Play a key role in developing, executing, and overseeing operational event plans.

    • Build strong relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, venues, and suppliers.

    • Escalate budget, safety, or staff concerns promptly with recommendations.

    • Prepare post-event reports, attend debriefs, and support continuous improvement.

    Skills and Requirements

    • Experience in coordination and implementation for operational delivery of events and festivals including the creation/implementation of public safety measures  

    • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Risk Management systems, documentation and reporting lines.

    • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, providing process clarity, and process documentation. Advanced experience with Google Suite, including Google Sheets, Google Docs and Asana

    • Demonstrated capacity to plan and meet deadlines effectively.  

    • Willingness and flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and evening hours as required

    • Applicants must be personable, knowledgeable and approachable as a source of information 

    • Strong communication skills and the ability to answer questions effectively or direct to management as required 

    • Energetic, committed, strong sense of initiative, punctual and reliable

    Please note that days will be allocated between the following periods 

    1 - 24 October support in preparation of documentation (estimated 4 - 6 days including 1x site visit - excluding weekends)
    27 October - 6 November installation (estimated 5-7 days - excluding weekends)
    7 -  23 November - onsite as required (potential weekends)
    24 - 26 November de-install (estimated 3 days)

    Chasing Sunbeams Opening Times are as follows. 

    Thursday between 11 - 6 pm 
    Friday, Saturday between 11 - 8 pm 
    Sunday between 11 - 4 pm
