SUNNYSIDE an art experience

Sunnyside is a bold new art experience transforming Ballarat with colour, creativity, and community.

Known internationally for her bold use of colour and pattern, Morag will transform the iconic Mining Exchange into a multi-sensory experience, Chasing Sunbeams.

Complimenting the installations, visitors came along to workshops, talks and wanderings in a joyful celebration of connection, imagination and artistic expression.

Sunnyside was a celebration of curiosity and the joy of stepping into the unknown. Unlike traditional multi-artist events, Sunnyside is shaped through collaboration with the community, with a single visiting artist invited to bring their distinctive style to life in bold and unexpected ways.

We snuck Morag into town back in April to ensure there was opportunity to learn on Country, meet the local community and visit a variety of locations to get a feel for the town to assist in informing her work.

The centrepiece has developed through workshops and conversations with local creatives and the wider community. Inspired by Ballarat’s people, stories and imagination, Chasing Sunbeams reflects the spirit of collaboration that defines Sunnyside.

Beyond the main installation, the experience spills into laneways and hidden corners, where playful prompts invite exploration and reframe how we move through familiar places, embracing the delight of the unexpected.

Supported by a program of workshops and collaborations with the local creative community, Sunnyside invites people of all ages to step away from the expected, revel in bold ideas, and immerse themselves in a once-in-a-lifetime creative adventure.

Sunnyside is the latest chapter in our ongoing work crafting unforgettable art experiences. With a commitment to community and creativity, The Social Crew continues to bring artists and audiences together through bold, imaginative projects that spark connection and help shape a vibrant new chapter in the cultural life of regional towns like Ballarat.
